Ask Judd Ross Allen what he does, and he won't lead with the verdicts. He'll tell you about his faith and that he's a husband and father first, and that everything he brings to the courtroom, the preparation, the discipline, the refusal to be outworked, traces back to the values he tries to model at home.

A nationally recognized first-chair trial attorney, Mr. Allen has tried more than 50 cases to verdict and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation extended only to trial lawyers who have proven themselves before juries. Yet the through-line of his career has never been the numbers. It is the conviction that an injured person deserves an advocate who fights as if the case were his own family's.

Long before he stood in front of a jury, Mr. Allen was a competitor. A dual-sport collegiate athlete and a Rhodes Scholar, he learned early how to carry two demands at once: the relentless conditioning of the athlete and the focus of the scholar. For more than eleven years, Mr. Allen served as a claims adjuster and then an in-house lead defense counsel for a major national insurance carrier, trying over 15 cases to jury verdict and securing 13 defense verdicts in matters involving general liability, motor vehicle accidents and commercial trucking.

He saw, up close, how insurers value and defend the claims of injured people, and he came to believe those people deserved someone who understood that machinery from the inside. So, he crossed over. As lead counsel he obtained eight seven-figure results and one eight-figure result in under three years, and over the course of his practice he has closed over 1,200 cases, securing more than $250 million in settlements, including an $11.8 million TBI verdict in Esparza v. Riverside.
