The Dominguez Firm Congratulates our Spring 2025 Legal Scholar: Eric Lau
The Dominguez Firm is happy to announce that Eric Lau has been chosen as the Legal Scholar for Spring 2025. Eric currently attends the University of Nevada Las Vegas William S. Boyd School of Law.
Eric Lau’s journey from South Sacramento to law school is a testament to his resilience and commitment to equity. Drawing from his experiences growing up in an underprivileged community, Lau aims to bridge the access to justice gap for underserved populations. His interdisciplinary approach combines legal expertise with a psychology background and a specific focus on serving communities often overlooked by traditional legal services.
Eric has been actively involved in community service initiatives throughout his studies. These include teaching Street Law classes to high school students, assisting small businesses with legal filings, and working on environmental policy development.
Upon graduation, he plans to return to South Sacramento to establish a multiservice law firm in his community. “I am honored and grateful beyond words to be this spring’s recipient. This will go a long way towards alleviating the financial burden of my legal journey. More importantly, I see it as aid that I reinvest back into the community through legal service that helps bridge the access to justice gap for underrepresented communities and clients.”
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who applied for our Legal Scholarship this semester. The applicants we received were truly inspiring, representing individuals from all walks of life—from those just beginning their legal education to those courageously returning to higher education after time away.
Each application was a testament to the power of determination and the pursuit of justice. This year’s recipient, Eric Lau, embodies the spirit of our scholarship: a commitment to using legal education as a tool for meaningful societal change. His plan to return to his hometown illustrates the noble purpose of a legal career—to practice law and make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
Drawing from his own immigrant background and legal journey, Attorney J.J. Dominguez, the Founder and CEO of The Dominguez Firm established these scholarships to support talented students who might otherwise lack opportunities. His goal is to ensure deserving individuals can pursue a career in law, regardless of their circumstances.
