Entry-Level Workers’ Compensation Clerk

Reports to: Workers’ Compensation Manager

The Workers’ Compensation (WC) Clerk will work directly with our Workers’ Compensation department and other departments within the Firm. The File Clerk must be highly organized, possess strong critical thinking skills, excellent attention to detail, and solid communication skills.Primary duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Organize medical reports from each legal assistant by client name;
  • Calculate total mileage traveled and cost per mile for all clients;
  • Serve bills and out of pocket expenses (including mileage) to defense attorney/ insurance and scan said documents to the Firm’s case management software prior to mailing out;
  • Print all medical reports that are electronically served from Report Source and distribute to legal assistants for review;
  • Serve approved medical reports to the defense attorney;
  • Organize all files two weeks prior to the scheduled hearing:
  • Each section of the file is to be organized in chronological order
  • Ensure there aren’t any pending medical reports/ mileage to be served; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management and/or Team Leaders.

Competencies/Skills:

  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team;
  • Ability to pay very close attention to detail;
  • Possess strong organizational, analytical, and clerical skills
  • Basic Knowledge of Workers' Compensation laws and procedures; and
  • Computer skills such as MS Office and Case management software's.
  • This position requires physical activity including but not limited to bending, stooping, repetitive motion, and lifting of up to 20 pounds. This position may also require sitting for prolonged periods of time.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 0-1 years’ experience working in a law firm; and
  • Minimum high school degree;
